NEWMAN WACHS RACING RETURNS TO LUCAS OIL RACEWAY OVAL
American Nolan Siegel and Australian Cameron Shields will take to the banked oval for the second time, having participated in an official series test last week. The drivers will determine their position on the grid for the fifth round of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship through single-car two-lap qualifying.
Shields and Siegel showed impressive speed at the series test and both are focused on earning their best finishes to date.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what Nolan and Cameron can do on the only oval race of the season,” offered Brian Halahan, NWR Team Manager. “Both drivers showed great pace during the test, driving with maturity and patience in traffic, so I’m convinced we’ll get some great finishing results.”
NWR’s drivers will be on-track starting on Thursday (May 23) with a practice session followed by qualifying for the Freedom 75. On Friday (May 24), they will start the afternoon with their last practice session and will then end the day with the Cooper Tires Freedom 75.

Quote: “This weekend will be my first-ever time racing on an oval, so I need to approach this experience like a sponge and soak it all up! It is very important that as a team we produce good results over this weekend as championship points are increased for oval racing. Both Nolan and I have learnt a lot over the past week from our previous test at Lucas Oil Raceway and we will be putting it to practice over the coming days and I’m sure our hard work will pay off.”
